Your point is well taken. I agree with you completely that mechanics are most likely over emphasized. The feeling you speak of is so important to playing quality golf.

My fiance is at the stage where mental work is more important then the physical. She is starting to realize it (after many, many, many pushes in said direction from your's truly). It is fun to watch her progress as she is quite athletic. I could see her going to single digits in less then 3 years. Her back is a problem (injury) else she would already be shooting in the 80s. And she just started golfing 3 years ago. She has that "I am a great putter" mentality already. First hole she ever beat me on was a par three where she nailed a 25 footer for birdie. I was fairly stiff that hole but was a bit rattled when she made it. I missed my 8 footer... Possibly the longest 8 footer I ever had. ;-)
