Article on Optical networks and ATM:
"HFC has long been considered the lowest-cost solution to bringing fiber
capacity close to home; however, in the last year or so,
several
fiber-to-the-home initiatives have been initiated,
including the full-service
access network consortium of Bell Canada (BC), BellSouth
(BLS),
GTE (GTE), SBC (SBC), NTT (NTT) and Telstra (TLS). These
full-service access network members, with about 310
million lines
(roughly 45 percent of all lines), have agreed on a
passive, optical
network design that uses the Asynchronous Transfer Mode.

Similarly, SBC Communications recently announced plans
to spend more
than $6 billion to build out its broadband
infrastructure. SBC's Project
Pronto includes 12,000 miles of new fiber in
metropolitan areas to
support high-speed DSL service."

Ok folks, how about a time out?

Bad enough to wade through insubstantiated "my stock's bigger than your stock" chest beating. Worse when it degenerates into name calling, tattling, threats, finger pointing at finger pointers and other prattle, justified on the "you did it to me first" basis or otherwise.

It's depressing to see adults engage in behavior barely tolerable on the playground!

CSCO iconifies much of the "new economy", which is exhibiting characteristics that defy traditional analysis. As such, a discussion about CSCO is fertile ground for diverse opinions.

But that doesn't mean the thread should degenerate into mere organic fertilizer, or that otherwise valuable contributors should soil themselves publicly.
