If the powder was there to take the Q lower then it would have occurred today. Someone with "power" likes the Q down there and is willing to buy enough of it to turn it around at that level. 2nd Fundamentally, QCOM has not warned of any disappointments to expect. And I don't expect a disappointment. I believe the worst case for CURRENT earnings is in the stock...a small "beat the street" could send the shorts running and refocus the Street on QCOM's positives going forward, get the analysts off this "China" thing and focus on wireless growth and QCOM's certain large role in its future. "China" is nothing more than gamesmanship. Anyone who has dealt with China in business knows they play these games. I have dealt with them on the commodity side many times in this regard. If you have what they need, eventually they will buy it...but it is in their culture to have you stand fire first. The Chinese will implement CDMA...they are not so spendthrift as to implement an obsolete technology...quite the opposite, they will go with the low power high reliability way. Also they will pay royalties. The WTO will be especially vigilant of Chinese abuses if they get in as will watchdog US Legislators who oppose WTO membership and most favored nation status for China. Also the use of G* as a Q-bashing device is done...a complete failure of G* is fully discounted in QCOM's price (I never thought it should be important anyway, but market perception being what it is). G* is funded until next Spring, so FUD regarding it is over for now. 3rd and most importantly, psychology. Everybody hates QCOM. Everybody on the Street has downgraded and lowered estimates. Many of the same guys who said buy at the highs. These are people who never "got" QCOM to begin with, thus I am comfortable in the minority opposing them. Many of my friends who road QCOM from prices last year that still give them a 500% return have thrown in the towel recently, saying the story is over. WIRELESS IS OVER? ARE YOU KIDDING? HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT"S COMING OUT? It's this kind of myopic timeframe where sophisticated buyers who should know better lose heart and faith. I love buying at that moment. On the other hand some very smart "grave dancers" I know have bought lately. QCOM is actually a value stock here...I mean it a Value stock...This is growth at its cheapest...Last and by far not least...the mere mention of something positive by me on this board earlier today elicited a number of messages to me asking "how could you?"; "how can you support this piece of sh--?"; "how can you support QCOM after it has ruined so many people's finances?" and others I cannot print here. Most were not regular porchers, but the guilty know who they are. This kind of emotional reaction tells me..1) its as bad as its going to get and 2) all the weak hands and tortured souls have sold...otherwise they would have cheered my view. No one who actually still owns the stock could react with such venom and incredulity. I am glad to see them gone. The decks are clear and the view looks mighty good from here going forward to me. Cheers!
