Fortune magazine ad. You guys should check this out.

I just got my Fortune with a big fat picture of Bill Gates on the cover. Flip it open, you will see BMW. Next page is a two-page AMD spread on Athlon. Creative is just ok. It's a word search game. You have to find the words:

1 - AMD
2 - Athlon
3 - processor
4 - now
5 - with
6 - full-speed
7 - performance
8 - enhancing
9 - cache
10 - memory

I have to see this as the beginning of a business systems full-on attack. Wall Street should like this.

Dave (finally happy)

Re: ....said Dresden was at 25% capacity.

Ruiz said it at a recent interview. I don't have a link but remember seeing it (and wondering if that was 25% of 5,000 or 6,000)

Regards,

Dan

Petz, Yes 'twas said by Ruiz at an interview. However the interviewer did not expand on that topic and it was never made clear if the current machinery is on a 25% duty cycle or if the factory floor was 25% occupied and the machinery there was running at 100%.
I tend to the latter....there is space for more machinery, and what they have is going flat out.
(there have been references to getting a joint operator to use this space, etc., now AMD has the cash to retire debt early and no longer needs a partner)
Bill

John Petzinger:

Re: "niceguy, earlier today you said Dresden was at 25% capacity. (#119479). Any source for that? Petz "

Comment: Yes, a post on this thread earlier in the day, reprinting an interview with Hector Ruiz (can't remember who posted it). It reinforced something I had heard a few weeks earlier...that AMD has increased Dresden production from 10% to 25% in 3 months (i.e 5% per month or from a rate of 200,000 to 450,000 (my guess, anyway) microprocessors per month...which should add about 900,000 additional (high ASP) microprocessors in Q2...which will undoubtedly do wonders for Q2 eps...i.e. $2.00 sounding more reasonable every time I sharpen my pencil!)
