What do you make of Kinross? I've heard there is still a huge stock overhang - either that or the company is in serious trouble - the stock seems dead in the water.

<<good old name like Coeur d'Alene to be in such bad shape>>

How about Echo Bay, Hecla, Battle Mountain? Even HM - damn -this has been a war declared against anyone who digs ~ but the declaration was never reported, one only found out about it after the blood flowed!

That is one of the things which STINK about the whole issue, some knew, others were screwed.

I received Agnico Eagle 2000 report in the mail today and
in the full color glossy section they reprinted the John
Hathaway "Folly of Hedging" essay and are very proud
of the fact they "have never sold any gold forward"

Of course on page 66, there are:
1 million ounces of gold puts purchased
11 million ounces of silver calls sold
11 million ounces of silver call options purchased
120 million pounds of zinc call options sold
80 million ouncse of zinc call options purchased
60 million pounds of copper options sold
$120 million of $US call options sold
$120 million of $US put options purchased

Just an observation.
