What effect would you say the gov buying back bonds has had and will have?

I'm young and don't have much experience with the complex monetary system and how it all works, part of why I read this thread. To me, it seems the gov is making bonds less attractive, thus pushing more money to stocks. It almost seems like we rely on the bond system to keep the stock market in check.

Does anyone have any stats of the ratio of money in bonds vs. money in equities?
