Mika, the R280LX has the same approximate height and width as the NOK 6160, but its depth (thickness) is probably only half that. It is indeed a sleek phone--a nice update from the little boxy offerings they've had for so long. According to the manual, the phone weighs 6.1 ounces (sorry, no grams) and has 4 hours talk with a standard battery. Even if you didn't have the internet stuff, it would still be a nice phone, so for $99 it is the best bargain at ATT. I can only guess they are heavily promoting it. Their only other CDPD-capable phone is a Mitsubishi model with a larger size and screen. That phone looks like a straight transplant from Japan, and also looks like it's about a year/year-and-a-half old design/sizewise. Also, it's expensive at $199. The ERICY phone seems obviously the one they are trying to promote, and the sales reps were wearing them. Do you know why NOK will not have a CDPD phone? Since AWE is supposedly going straight to EDGE, there will be a big time lag before NOK can offer packet data to AWE otherwise.
I must say, when I got my Samsung SCH-3500 last summer, I only used the browser once--and just for one minute--due to the expense of connection. In contrast, I think free CDPD packets with well-designed, lean-data services will be a big hit. I actually did order a book last night--The Girl with Curious Hair by David Foster Wallace.
