Also, the chart I posted had a smoothed StochRSI plotted and the second line (used for X-overs) was a Moving average of the StochRSI.

Yes, that makes more sense. Thanks, Cat. But let me just clarify...if I remember my formulas correctly from Elder's book (tried to memorize them, but some have since slipped out...):

RSI = 100 - [100/1 + U/D]

where U = avg. of gains for the period
and D = avg. of losses for the period

Stochastics = 100 * [(C - LL)/(HH - LL)]

where C = today's close
and LL = lowest low in period
and HH = highest high in period

So an RSI-Stoch indicator would be...100 * [(C - D)/(U - D)]

Does this look correct to you?

TC

Cat,

I have been looking at this indicator lately with some interesting results. If you are looking for software other than Metastock to chart and scan this indicator you can use QuotesPlus, which also happens to be an excellent supplier of EOD data.

The results of StochRSI seem to depend a great deal on the variables and if I can come up with a better way to run explorations, I will post it.
