(COMTEX) GTS Completes Roll Out of Pan-European ISP Infrastructure Ahead of Schedule

WASHINGTON and LONDON, Jul 7, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Global TeleSystems, Inc.
(GTS) (NYSE: GTS; Easdaq: GTSG; Frankfurt: GTS), today announced that it is now
offering Internet access and a range of other Internet and e*Business services
over a single pan-European Internet service infrastructure in 35 cities and 12
countries in Western Europe.

The development of GTS's "Euro ISP" platform was completed five months ahead of
schedule and immediately positions GTS as one of the leading Internet service
providers (ISPs) operating across Europe, and the only pan-European ISP
operating a seamless European Internet infrastructure. Businesses across Europe
can now take advantage of a suite of Internet Services powered by GTS's
high-performance Internet backbone, GTS Ebone, which operates at 2.5 Gbps with
zero packet loss.

H. Brian Thompson, chairman and chief executive officer of GTS, said: "The
launch of the GTS Euro-ISP platform solidifies our position today as THE
Internet and e*Business platform of Europe. This enhanced Internet service
delivery capability perfectly complements GTS Ebone and our hosting centers to
give businesses and Internet-centric companies the pan-European connectivity,
speed and quality-guaranteed services to achieve their vision through the
Internet."

Amit Pau, president of GTS e*Business Products, added: "By taking advantage of
the superior connectivity, service experience, speed and security that the
Euro-ISP platform provides, we are helping companies create virtual communities
that enable them to build even better relationships with their customers,
partners and employees. Our goal is to make e*Business easier by lowering costs
while improving performance."

GTS's complete Internet service solution for businesses also includes access to
a wide range of services such as e-mail, news feeds, Web space, file transfer
and Web browsing. GTS will also be one of the only ISPs to bundle voice and data
services, including voice over IP (VoIP).
