Aus Mystery Answer:

I would reward a 14 p/e multiple.

If the 2000 anticipated eps is around $1.03, then I would guess a current price of $14 7/16. Aus, whoever this company is, they are growing too slow for me!!!

I would not be comfortable calculating an earnings multiple based solely on earnings. I would want to look at other measurements, e.g., an acceptable ratio of market price to book value (about 10 to 1, or more); an acceptable ratio of market price per share to sales per share (about 4 or 5 to 1), and a factor that would adjust book value for intangibles, such as the intrinsic value of the patents.
