Glenn:

IMO, the $13.375 is low for COMSv, it should be at least $15-$20. Right now (per my broker) the market in COMSv is being made by one small MM ahead of actual trading, which he tells me will begin on Monday (so much for the 7/7 date in the PALM FAQ's). Plus we probably need to get the 7/11 record date behind us, when (Mang's broker's letter notwithstanding), 3Com will announce the final distribution ratio.

When COMSv can be readily and widely traded, COMSv + 1.5PALM will equal COMS. PALM may drift down to achieve this, or COMS may pop - I think the latter is more likely.

But the major moves in both PALM and COMS (IMO) will occur in the week prior to D-Day and the week after. That's what happened with HWP/A - look at the two weeks surrounding 6/2 - and now HWP is trading as if a chunk of its business hadn't been divested. It's like the market doesn't notice the event until it's imminently about to occur. And it may not be until after 7/27 that the market wakes up to the fact that COMS is on sale at dirt cheap prices and starts seriously buying it.

So if you've already staked your positions, patience is needed here - about two weeks worth IMO.
