TORONTO (Dow Jones)--Synergy Mutual Funds small-cap portfolio manager Peter Hodson has pulled some of his best picks out of the communications equipment sector. (later in the story..) He also has been a long-time holder of Zenon Environmental Inc. (T.ZEN), a maker of water purification systems. Zenon has run into earnings downgrades and management has lost some credibility in the market, but Hodson has stuck with the position because the company's technology is good and because of the increasing need for water cleaning systems around the world.
