Good article, Glenn. But I don't fault AMZN for spending some on this particular phenomenon --
they want to be part of the press, and also see if they can deliver so many orders all the
same day. Good practice, and we don't get to know whether or not these same buyers of the
H Potter book buy other items at the same time, or soon after...

I have to disagree with your perception here. I believe this was a waste of money just to prove this can be done. I am only guessing that the pre-orders were already Amazon customers.

I am so late getting to the thread. I do not even know how it went.

Amazon did become part of the press but I believe they already created a name. The focus now should be on efficiency in my opinion. Amazon has never taken that track yet as far as I know.
