Les, a couple of my recent training rides, I ran over a pigeon (who appeared to survive) and a big rat, who didn't. The pigeon was pretty stupid to get run over, the rat just picked a bad time to dart across the bike trail. I was on a racing bike on an in-city trail in Seattle. Never hit anything before those two back-to-back rides. You know how critters seem to know when there's going to be an earthquake or an eruption... I think critters are committing suicide in advance of a huge market decline. <g>

Les, When a car runs over an animal, it usually can't be helped. But a mountain bike? That has to be deliberate or the rider isn't paying attention.
