thanks for the info:

re: "does not matter which flavor of CDMA is deployed in the
sense that they will receive the same royalties". Other than QCOM IR, and threaders who are very long the stock, no one else is making that statement. I conclude, until I hear unbiased evidence from multiple sources, that that statement is wishful thinking. Sorry, but that's what it looks like to me.

Pushing significant 3G royalties out (from 2002-2003 to 2004?????) is a major blow to the company's prospects. 2004 is so far in the future that, now that the dot.com euphoria is over, investors aren't going to pay for profits that far out. The stock price must be based on profits/revenues/market share for 2G, maybe 2.5G, not 3G. This is an opportunity. If an investor concludes that QCOM will be a big winner in 3G, and the investor is willing to hold the stock till then, then this is a buying opportunity. But 2004 is a long, long time from now. In fact, it's so far away, that I have to rethink buying LEAPs, in favor of stock.

If "Nancy" is willing to say all of these things to a complete stranger, why hasn't QCOM simply put out a press release like most other companies do when this much mis-information is being spread? I don't doubt the poster had a conversation with "Nancy" in IR but I have to take the comments with a grain of salt.

If IR would say this to the public, why wouldn't they say it to analysts and reporters. Although I hate the way CNBC and Bloomberg manipulate the markets with their comments, I have to believe that they have spoken to QCOM and QCOM has not refuted the news that is going out today. The marketplace is usually pretty efficient at figuring things out.

I'm long and consider it too late to sell. Now I "hope" that Dr. J didn't con his investors or that Dr. J was outmaneuvered by NOK and NTT.
