OT: DELL

Yes, but there are probably better values near-term. There are several catalysts which should come together in the 2nd half of the year which will trigger the next serious upcycle for DELL. The release of Windows 2000 Datacenter Edition as well as W2K Service Pack 1 (SP1) should accelerate the W2K migration cycle, especially in the server space. INTC's release of Itanium should also provide an initial gauge as to the acceptance of IA64. Finally, I expect the Pentium 4 will be a big hit on the client side since it is the first silicon which will have the horsepower to start widespread adoption of voice recognition technology.

Longer term the real question is whether DELL will fully embrace the storage-centric paradigm and commit its server efforts to that paradigm. If they do, then I expect they will have an opportunity to gain major share over the next 3-5 years.
