It's a zero sum game in that one person's gain is someone else's loss, OR opportunity cost.

But that still doesn't explain why you brought up dividend payments and the price of the stock.

Btw, few of those CEO's you mentioned ever bought those holdings of stock they have. They were either awarded it, or held it by virtue of being founders of the corporation.

And you can be sure that if they ever did buy back their stock, they probably did it with the proceeds from previous sales at higher prices.
