re: I will be buying Monday AM

Don't you want to see the stock stabilize first, bounce a couple of times off something that feels like a bottom? I agree, we are beginning what will probably be the 4th and final step-down for the stock from its 200 high. I agree, the bottom is close, but only in time (between now and earnings). It may not be close in terms of stock price. I expect some wild swings right around earnings and CC. The "window of opportunity" to buy this stock cheap will end abruptly, but monday morning might be a bit early.

Well Mike, I guess my sale the other day wasn't the capitulation we were looking for :)...

That said, your mania view seems on target. I had a friend call me this afternoon who has been a very successful investor for years. He made his fortune putting everything he had in Intel back in 94...then saw it drop by 2/3rds. Hung on because he kept checking with retailers and people he knew...well turns out he made the move of a life time. To add icing to it all, he eventually sold his Intel and put all the proceeds into Cisco. He invests other people's money now.

We talked about Q. He doesn't have any now (sold back at $120 pre-pre split), but feels it is pretty worthless to sell if one is holding now...but to buy at this point is risky since Q has taken so many body blows here. As you have mentioned, there are still HUGE share lots out there that people bought and are regreting the day. They are just waiting to get out...vowing never to return...once there is a rally. So the return to la la land will be a tough one for us, no doubt. We'll see lots of failed rallies.

This whole thing reminded both of us of Iomega. While I'm at it, here's the chart:

Everyone loved the thing. The only problem of course was that they just made little boxes. We obviously don't have that situation with QCOM, but the mania was the same.

Have a great weekend. I'm outta here. Birds are more fun than computer watching anyway.

Chow!
