The gambling mentality is not leaving the market

. . . . so we will continue to see quick 100% rises in stocks like QCOM and RMBS. The "Who Wants to Become a Millionaire" attitude is here to stay in our society.

Momentum players still thrive in the market. One of the reasons I stick with Qualcomm is that I know explosive news will happen the morning I mistakenly sleep too late. <ggg> Boom! 100. Hello!

I'm just worried about how low this stock can go. Is there really any point holding it during this FUD crisis? Qualcomm announced after the market today (and it was reported on CNBC somewhat casually) that the company expects to get the same royalties from that "ghost," wCDMA, as it does from CDMA2000. Since the market was closed most people were probably off picking up their kids or making dinner.

>Much of the enthusiasm for QCOM in December, 1999 was momentum players and hedge funds jumping in for no reason at all but to jump on. It had nothing to do with the fundamentals of the company.

Exactly. And it could now be those same funds that are shorting the company. It may have nothing to do with the fundamentals of the company.

So how efficient is the market?
