I just read that Paine Webber shareholders will get $73.50 for each share (in cash or UBS stock) because of the UBS deal.(UBS buys Paine Webber). Paine Webber shares closed at 66 7/8 today. Of course that must mean that the NYSE specialist will open the stock at at least $73.50 tomorrow.
I still don't quite understand the relationship between the NYSE, regional exchanges, and now ECN's that are trading listed stocks. I hope this question isn't too broad, but I was wondering if you had any insights and how these different exchanges will react in light of this deal.

Thanks,

Alex
