REGARDLESS of what you read, "irregardless" is never proper.

Regardless of what you have heard, "irregardless" is a redundancy. The suffix "-less" on the end of the word already makes the word negative. It doesn't need the negative prefix "ir-" added to make it even more negative.

Webster's is known for their bottom-up approach to language. What is jargon among street urchins today is tomorrow's dictionary entry. We must stick with the OED.
