I would agree with your analogy if you mentioned that the severely injured person had just polished off a bottle of Cuervo Gold, then got in the car.

Margin maintenance and Fed issues aside, this is all about market positioning by 2 very powerful standards. It's geo-political as well as business/profit based, which makes it even more volatile.

You're right. It was improper. They should have done it in October 1999. That would have saved a lot more gamblers from the consequences of their greed.
