gottfried, "you have a Dell, right?" i currently own two. i have purchased three. sold one to a friend. whenever i find myself in a position to advise (and sometimes procure) a machine for a friend's business or home use, i have always turned to dell. and people are always satisfied. the refurbished machines have always looked appealing to me. do they come with the same warranties? "not responsible for anyone getting sidetracked" right you are... not without their willingness. but i'm just emailing a couple tech support people and messing around with software solutions. so i was ripe for a pcworld article. <g> when you think you might make the laptop move? :) mark
