rewe might still be a republic today However: if the Founding Fathers had left out that horrible "general welfare" phrase (which of course did not mean what the leaders have twisted it to) and if modern leaders honestly followed the Constitution or of even the Supreme Court followed the Constitution we might still have a chance to be a republic. But instead we have no balance of powers and scads of non elected bureaucratic employees with control over our lives. So sad. Freeus
