Bill, re "Has anyone on the thread seen HDR in action ? Was it demonstrated at the shareholders meeting in March ?" It was not, However, I understand that QCOM tossed a bunch of analysts and telco muckety-mucks in a van and drove from south county San Diego to north county during which they watched a feature movie beamed wirelessly using HDR. This implies data through put in the 2.5Mbs or more range.
Supposedly this happened early in 2000. I have been unable to confirm so can't provide a link. Mike Doyle

I saw it demonstrated at CTIA wireless 2000 Feb 28 through March 1, 2000 in New Orleans. Qualcomm and Lucent did a joint demo. It's real.

Unfortunately I was not one of the privileged few invited to the November 10(?), 1999 demonstration of HDR. However, I did listen to the first part of the meeting, and I would guess there is a link on Q's site (IR/Archives). It is worth listening to if it is still available.

George Gilder was at the meeting and he reported that he was in the van and that HDR worked!
