Ken,

Tell me if we are talking about the same product line. At this point I think I might be confusing them.

Avaya will have only the Enterprise Network system who make PBX switches (among other products). These are ATM backbone systems designed for the business sector capable of data and voice interface using either ATM or IP.

The Switching Solutions division of LU will not be spun off. They make the famous 5ESS switch. THis switch has an ATM backbone also, but is intended only for circuit switched applications since it uses the SS7 protocols for circuit setup. It is intended for major switching applications in the toll carrier and LEC markets.

Is this all true, and which switching are you, Clay, and TP talking about?

Ken, I have heard from 3 people, 2 in the field, that NT is slashing prices on the circuit switch products. I do not know the reasons why...tp
