I deplore writing when my cable is down everything is slow motion so here goes. No i never heard that tactic. No one ever informed me not to divulge who they were.
Now I shall address the request for funds that you claim transpired. I have had requests from people i have known for years and denied the request because i felt the investment was not one i was interested in or was not sound.

There is a choice issue here on how I feel and the work I put into that decision. If an investment is not one that interests me does not mean it won't be successful it is one I am not comfortable with that is all.

Would i try to prove one of my friends an utter idiot no. For I would be the idiot if I invested in something i did not believe in or could be convinced the potential was there when there was none.

Would i get angry yes at myself had I of made a mistake. The actions are mine and I try not to make mistakes.
My view and yours are different of the person because no one told me not to say who they were. I just felt that they were comfortable with a moniker. No one asked me for money but gave me sound advice on investing. So for me i tend to think this has to be a love hate thing.
