when you get the gorillas back and the icon appears in the systray, that really has to be an opportunity to get this pest, imo.

i see that ed suggested that you right-click on the icon and look for ways to disable it. i believe that you said nothing happened when you tried this. let me add that when it shows up, try right-clicking again. select 'properties' if it's given. sometimes under a 'view' heading you'll find a way to lose the program.

also, ed recommended add/remove, and you indicated that there were about 50 items there. if you haven't already, i suggest that you go back there and dig deeper into the 50 items. use 'find' for ones that you are unsure of. or post them here so we can maybe help you determine.

"I forgot about the .scr but just did a Find and did not see anything unusual"

when you search using '*.scr' and get a list of all screen saver files, you can right-click each file and select 'test'.

just a thought here... the monkeys may have disguised themselves under another innocent-sounding screen name. after all, didn't you say that the 'flying windows' ss appears when the monkeys come to play?

so perhaps everything looks in order, but testing each ss will show otherwise.
