(NASDAQ:CMTO), a leading supplier of system solutions for the broadband access market, announces a demonstration of its wireless ComUNITY VoX (Voice over Exchange) solution at the Wireless Communications Association (WCA 2000) show in New Orleans. The integrated voice and data system enables wireless systems operators to cost-effectively offer toll-quality telephony and data services using an existing public switched telephone network (PSTN). The ComUNITY VoX product is on display at Com21's booth, number 337, in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. "The wireless ComUNITY VoX product offers tremendous benefits for service providers," noted Michael Gordon, vice president and general manager of Com21's Broadband Fixed Wireless business unit. "While we ultimately believe in voice over IP technology and are championing its development, it is currently neither toll-quality nor as scalable and feature rich as our voice over exchange product. The wireless ComUNITY VoX solution can enable the wireless operators to quickly and cost-effectively deploy both data and full-featured PSTN telephony to new subscribers in their licensed markets." The wireless ComUNITY VoX system allows efficient sharing of radio frequency (RF) resources by integrating voice and data. Additionally, it provides support for provisioning and billing management, reducing total voice and data operational costs for the service provider. The ComUNITY VoX product will begin shipping at the end of this month.
