> Additional supply?:

No, most of the coins are better dates and are being absorbed into the coin market at pretty decent prices. No impact on gold, IMHO.

There has been an interesting ongoing debate in the numismatic community regarding the SS Central America gold coins. Normally "cleaning" coins is frowned upon, and many grading services, including PCGS, will not slab cleaned coins. The SS Central America coins, having been on the ocean floor were "curated" to remove debris and then graded and slabbed by PCGS. As you might imagine, it takes a metallurgist with a Phd to define the difference between "cleaning" and "curating"

long, we have our XAU creeping back into its trading range, 55.00-62.50..We remain a slave to the band..I am holding a couple of gold stocks, and will sell them into the next pop, but if the boys take out 54 on XAU with power, I will be abandoning ship...Note: we still haven't taken out 270 on the POG...Regards, Mark

I was reading about June 20-21 auction results for SS Central America gold, found some items that may interest you;

A 4.95oz .795 fine Blake and Company bar went for $39,600, over $8000/ounce.
The largest bar, a 663.6oz .893 fine Kellogg and Humbert went for $308,000 (about $460/ounce)
The 99 1857S $20 coins went from $3300 to $24,200.

I don't think we need to worry about these getting melted an dumped on the market ;)
