RE: "Did Dell offer you a replacement?"

No. They replaced hard drive, keyboard, etc., (at different times), but never replace the whole thing.

Best wishes,

On the subject of laptops I must chime in with a recommendation for Jetta Jetbooks. I have had mine for almost 3 years with nary a (knock on wood) problem. I did get a 3 year onsite warranty upgrade for 99 bucks. I am quite pleased to say there has been no reason to use it. I also cannot comment on their phone technical support because, I have yet to call them. It has just been an incredibly solid machine which I use daily.

There is a review in the above article. Seems the author did not like the battery screw in feature. I do not use the computer for more then a hour or so without plugging in so the battery is not a consideration for myself.

My model is Jetta 7120 with Intel 266 MMX designed for laptops.
