For those interested in following the progress of vertical B2B exchanges, check out page 108 of the July 24 issue of Forbes. According to the author there are a lot of reasons companies in the supply chain don't like the idea of participating in them and there are reasons to think that participation might be catching the attention of the anti-trust attorneys general. Most important, the article contends that the biggest exchanges are announced with a lot of hoopla yet potential participants have no idea what the value of the proposition might be. If that's the case, investors might want to question what the value of the exchange might be to the companies providing their infrastructure.
