The main problem I have with what Celera has done is
that first, the human genome is a very diverse thing.
For example, its long been known that Africans who
suffer from sickle cell anemia do so because they have
genetic code that gives rise to a different type of
hemoglobin. This protein then creates the "sickle"
shape and creates the disease.

Celera has sequenced only one human and people are
making the claim that they can "cure every disease
known to man" and other outrageous things. This is
just like the snake oil salesmen of yesteryear. It
is a big step, no, I would say a gigantic leap to go
from having the sequence of a gene and providing a
"cure" for the underlying disease.

My suggestion is that everyone who is buying into
this hype take a look at the insider positions. I
think you will find that these insiders are selling
their stock and options because they know that the
riches from this discovery are decades away but the
instant riches from dumping stock are there for the
taking, as long as ignorant fools are willing to poor
their money into these pipe dreams...
