I also think that the time is right now for the biggest appreciation opportunity since Feb/Mar 1999.

W-CMDA cannot be deployed without an agreement with QCOM, so the royalty rate should remain in effect. QCOM has stated that everyone pays the same -- they are really in the cat-bird's seat. Further, I remain doubtful that W-CDMA will ever be deployed given the lead that CMDA2000 has -- by at least a year or two.

I understand that the only major company with a 3G license is Hitachi, and it's at the same royalty rate -- Hitachi has seen the light -- and I suspect that Hitachi did their homework before reaching an agreement with QCOM.

I also suspect that this month's conference call will focus considerably on 3G licensing, and many analysts [excluding Chase H&Q, of course] will recognize the favorable situation that QCOM is in vis-a-vis 3G.
