Jay,

I don't think your user experience, or those of your nephew and S.O. are at all unusual.
I am refreshed to learn that things have turned out positively.

In find the digital photography bug is highly contagious, habit-forming and totally incurable.

The installed PC base and the ease & enjoyment of the technology (facilitated greatly by CompactFlash) is digital photography's biggest ally.

It would be great if a couple people on The Thread could share their digital photography experiences. I have a system at home right now for taking, developing, printing and distributing images. I am sensitive to the complexity, cost, quality and permanency of the routine, the final results, the ease of distribution, and archiving of images.

Digital photography has totally altered my approach to photography. I use Brownian motion as a tool now. I circulate around with my camera snapping as many pictures as I see fit and never showing any concern for the number of exposures. Best of all, I think my results have improved because of this luxury.

I would like to ask those on The Thread who are so inclined to let us in on their "tricks and tips".
I hope to do the same shortly.

Ausdauer

Hi Jay,

Great that you're getting to spend the time with your son and able to teach him the benefits of the digital plat form.
Mine is almost 11 and it amazes me were he takes the things I show him.

I had pretty much lost interest in taking pictures till I got my last digital camera. I had a trip to Brazil in February fishing and decided I would give it one more try. Me and a buddy went shopping in Memphis. He finally purchased one but I still wasn't satisfied. A few days latter I started fondling them at sears. Found a cheap Kodak that just fit my hand, mind and eye perfect. Got three flash cards a carrying case and the "E" drive mouse. The "E" drive mouse is a must, but my pc didn't have the right port, so I had to add that too.

Anyway I got some great pic's in Brazil and then burned them on a CD when I got back. My interest since then has been at an all time high. I carry the Camera with me at all times now and rarely do I send an Email without attaching a picture because of the convenience of the "E" drive.

Got to Love it.

PS-One of my partners left yesterday on an Alaska Cruise. I offered to loan him my camera and then I realized what I was gonna miss while he was a float. So I just purchased one for him as a going away present. Boy was he happy!!!
