Milo, The jewish armies were successful because they had well trained and well read and educated troops as well as good weaponry, esp in the later wars. In the war of independence they won because the arabs underestimated them and they were well led, well motivated, but not very well armed. In later wars they were better armed as well as better trained as well as better educated and that allowed them to defeat a numerically superior force that was also fairly well armed. My example was that better weapons and better troops can conquer a numerically superior foe. As to the israelites being the chosen people of god....what god? Bill
