Many thanks to you, Gottfried and tc. Your e-mail was received, Gottfried... thanks again. I'm going to give all your suggestions a try tonight. I was a little "mind-boggled" at how fast people jumped in to help a total stranger. This thread should be the model for all to emulate. It's nice (actually refreshing) to see civil responses from everyone... even if they don't always agree. I hope nobody minds if I jump in with some questions every now and then. Experience is a great teacher and I sincerely appreciate everyone's willingness to share.

Thanks again and best always,

Marty

Hi Mark,

Just as I was about to try to get Live Update back using the file Gottfried downloaded I received the following from Symantec. It worked just fine and thought it might help anyone else with the same problem. Apparently they have resolved the "glitch".

Hello Martin,

Welcome to Symantec Online Technical Support.

I am sorry for the inconvience, but this has been fixed and here are the directions to get you going again.

1.] Go into Control Panel and look for the Add/Remove programs icon.

2.] Double click so that it opens and look for LiveUpdate in the window and highlight it by clicking it once.

3.] Then click on Add/Remove and it will uninstall.

4.] When it has uninstalled then restart you computer.

5.] Once you system is back up and running go to the internet.

6.] Now you will go to the address below.

symantec.com

7.] You can down load LUSETUP.EXE from here.

8.] After you have downloaded it to you system just double click on the file name LUSETUP.EXE

9.] Now after it has run and given you a new LiveUpdate you will reboot again and then run LiveUpdate to finish this up.

That is all there is to it.

If you have further questions please post them to our discussion group, and thank you for using Symantec Software.

Thanks again.
