Niels, Yes, of course it was started by him. I never said otherwise.
However as Islam matured it became very warlike and expansioinisttic ans soon repressed science. I was of the opinion that the arab sciences pre-dated islam.?? Did it flower at the beginning and as islam spread and became againsy science slowly strangle it.?
As we know the clergy of all faiths acted as repositories of many things during the dark ages. In addition the growth of the the muslim empire was part of the expansionism of Islam. When did it stop helping science and start denying it? When the leadership went to the west as the best islamic scholars were streamed to a dead end in the study of religious writings?
