Nokia might be an example of such a "chimp" (if it is one).

Nokia has tried to make its software "compatible" with Qualcomm's CDMA but so far hasn't been very successful.

Some time ago, Qualcomm even tried to help Nokia get Nokia's CDMA software right so operators could use Nokia's chips, but even with Qualcomm's help, Nokia still seems a bit short.

Nokia has since repaid the Q with a FUD campaign.

Shows that "no good deed goes unpunished" as some say.
