Do you have high bush blueberries? I saw the most beautiful blueberry bushes in The Plains, VA, a few weeks ago, when we went to Vintage Virginia, the wine festival. They were planted along the parking lot and were taller than I am. No one was eating the berries, either, I don't think anyone knew what they were.

Hi August,

Long time no talk... (-:

We have had the weirdest summer up here...rain, rain, and more rain. Most of the vegetables aren't doing too well. The best stuff would be the celery, leeks, onion, broccoli and brussel sprouts. The tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants are truly pathetic-looking... too cold I guess. This year, I started globe artichokes in the house in February. The plants took awhile to get going and also to get growing after transplanting, but they look pretty good now... might actually end up with some artichokes.

Your garden sounds like it's doing okay. I don't worry too much about weeds anymore. Big deal for how things look... just so long as we get enough vegetables. This year I used a heavy mulch of old hay between the rows and there's nary a weed in sight... (-:
