But W-CMDA proponents must negotiate and receive a QCOM licents to use the technology. The same is not true w/r/t to CDMA2000, where QCOM does not need to cut a deal with the GSM/TDMA teams. In any regard, I am hearing that W-CDMA is at least three years out, so we may never know if a deal will be cut with QCOM, as CDMA2000 may be proven before W-CDMA is even out of the laboratory and becomes implemented.
