"Have tried that before, only to get an error message saying'This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down'"

let me back up a minute, stockbull. you've mentioned 'cookie cleanup' having a prob with netscape, but i just remembered that you can't clean cookies using norton's cleansweep (at least in my v2.0) when the browser is open, or running. so why do you think it's got anything to do with netscape?

it would be helpful to know what the illegal op message said. probably an invalid page fault (IPF) somewhere. try to supply us with what module it occurs in.

also, if you'll tell me what symantec software you are running, maybe we can locate a knowledge base article that addresses this.

and i still think shutting down crashguard is a plan. the IPF may have been unrelated to the cookie clean and turning off cg. sometimes you have to repeat a step and observe the results a second time.

:)

"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down",,

Stockbull
When I get that message trying to close a program I click the X close and the program does indeed close some of the times.I don't know if you've tried that ,just a thought.
