Pat - Great to see you here. I follow CMTO with some interest and I welcome comments from someone as thorough as you.

I've asked around on a very cursory basis - not many people know about EXFO. Seems to be a fairly low-profile co.

The capital structure was the only negative I could find too. Some shares have 10 votes; some have 1. The IPO shares were the 1 vote share.

Of course, the P/E is now astronomical.

They had a problem with engineer retention - very high demand for anyone who can even spell "optical" and having a stock option plan to motivate employees to stay was one of their key concerns in going public according to local interviews.

The closest comparative company I could find with testing instruments was one of the one's mentioned Wavetex Wandel Golterman - note that one of the key execs was recruited from Wavetex. Another comparable company with a broad suite of testing products is Digital Lightwave.

I've compared the products side by side but don't really have enough tech expertise to do more than compare features. Any knowledgable analysis appreciated.

For the only article I could find referencing EXFO see the article out of light-reading.com
