Already, two of the five companies that helped Ciena test CoreDirector have agreed to buy it, Silverstein says. The comany also has added to its list of customer trials. Ciena already has shown investors that it can pull off a new product launch. Last quarter, the company began shipping its MultiWave CoreStream product, which transmits data quickly over long distances. "For the first time Ciena's fourth-generation CoreStream long-haul system accounted for the majority of revenue during the quarter." Silverstein said. "Increased customer demand for rapid delivery of Ciena's industry-leading optic networking equipment and our successful execution on deployment for new customers are the primary reason behind our robust performance," CEO Nettles said.
