Pat, since you are in the know, do you have any idea if the justice department will have a problem with this merger?

Not that I am concerned, because JDSU just established the bidding process if the deal falls through. 400 is the price to beat.

Second question. Who will be holding onto their shares ? Do we want JDSU or are there better fiber companies out there?

Some quick arb math: Spread is about 13% now. We all need to discuss if the regulatory approval skids are greased or not from the ETEK merger.

This, I would think, is now #1 buying #2. What are folks thinking about this going through?

I got to listen in on most of the CC. A lot of it was the understandably cautious stuff but a few noteworthy things I picked up. Combined jdsu/etek/sdli anuual sales run rate $2.7B. Sales and income for all three entities willbe higher than the investment community expects and they will see that over the next few weeks as earnings are released. Deal hopes to close by Dec. and is expected to be accretive right off the bat. Continual talk of expanding production, ramping up everything, growth, growth, growth. Lot of talk of combined expertise accelerating the development of systems on a chip that will lower costs and accelerate expansion of whole FO business.

Oh my! Think this will get by anti-trust regs?
