Intel has to first fill up the 933MHz cup and then the 1GHz cup before they can even pour some 1.13GHz processors into the market AND ramp up ANOTHER stepping.
---

Doesn't it seem likely that the 1.13GHz CPUs would be the result of the new stepping, rather than a separate issue?

Cirruslvr,

<Intel has to first fill up the 933MHz cup >

By all indications the 933s will not become plentiful until C0.

<We know AMD won't let Intel try to get a perceived edge up on them, so it is practically guaranteed AMD will come out with 1.1GHz this month rather than a potential August release.>

Thunderbird/Duron motherboards seem to be becoming available right now. I am expecting to see a flood of new systems in the next week or two (first Thunderbirds and then Durons). That takes away the last bottleneck for the resumption of AMD MHz ramp. Intel knows this and chose to create a leadership perception by preannouncing a vapor launch. This is stooping even lower than than the miserable 1G launch.

Chuck

P.S.: Unfortunately for us longs, the delta between actual AMD processor shipments in Q2 and 7.5Mu indicate the units that AMD did not ship because of motherboard problems.
