They both will account for the current price. The blowout earnings of SDLI will bolster the price of JDSU. They're intertwined.

I disagree. According to the CC this morning, jdsu, sdli, and etek will all have blowout numbers. Once people start to calculate administrative and manufacturing efficiencies from this deal, on top of blowout standalone numbers, the runup will commence. IMO, the risk issue here is Justice approval.

SDLI sold a heck of a lot of product to JDSU. So those specific products will now be used in house. One major reason why the deal will likely be approved imo. Though there is some product overlap, there is also some very, very nice 'horizontal' integration that will indeed lead to both higher profit margins AND lower prices for JDSU customers.

Given the time frame the ETEK merger took to complete (about 6 mos), it's likely the SDLI merger will probably take about the same amount of time.

I don't the completion of the ETEK merger has any bearing on any anti-trust concerns that may arise. This merger will be looked at under a separate microscope and I do expect it to go through.

I seem to recall at the time some assertions that the first large merger in an industry sector got closer scrutiny by DOJ because they had to start essentially from ground zero. If so, perhaps SDL will go faster.
