Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look out for? Find out who might be a target in the active component space. Now that SDL's out of the running, who would GLW look at, for example. Also look for trends in filters --- market for AWGs? --- and also tunable lasers. In the metro market, ask if deployments are picking up faster than expected. That's a start. Have a great time! Pat

I'm not suggesting anyone invest internationally but Furukawa, Ando and Anritsu are on rolls lately. BTW - I picked up Ciena at 13 after the Tellabs crisis. Surprised I never sold after a year and a half.<< I tried to PM you but SI still does not seem to be working correctly. If you could pick up any anecdotal information on how Ciena is doing not only in Japan but the rest of Asia, I would greatly appreciate it...And you can either post what you find privately to me or on the Ciena thread... Thanks. PS Lived and worked in Yokohama and Tokyo for many years...
