nothing can stop the bubble...its internal dynamics are too strong.

but i can sense a beginning storm brewing in the gold/euro carry trades. there's too much complacency...way too much.

There are a few thousand lots of august 500 puts which will go off the board on Friday. If they were a straight bet on lower prices by the hedge fund that took them out then the counter party which probably has them hedged will do some covering between now and expirey probably forcing silver a bit higher. If the puts are viewed as protection of a large long position then you can expect the boyz to take a short side run at the naked long come Monday.

Since the COT's don't show anything that resembles a strong spec long position in silver it is likely that the puts are not insurance against a big long position, and thier expirey will be a non-event.

The physical side of the market is actually extremely tight even though lease rates do not indicate that this is the case. A friend was trying to buy a few million ounces of high grade silver recently for a consumer, and was having a very difficult time locating material.

There is very little spec interest in silver, from either direction at the moment. No one could pull off a WB in the current environment because it does not look like the quantity of metal is around to be had at near these prices.

It would not be at all surprising to get a very fast spike up that comes out of nowhere and for appparently no reason.

however, even the kids know about gold:

took a tantrum on his father in plain sight where we snoopy dwellers could see the show, calling him a cheap s.o.b amongst other things.

I could not help myself so asked my neighbour what had happened to ignite such a tantrum .

My neighbour was quick to defend his sons position and accepted the blame for the debacle we had just witnessed.

He said he complimented his son on his play in a baseball game. But admits he should have chosen his words more carefully.

I asked what he had said that ignited the verbal barrage from his son and why was he called a cheap s.o.b.

My neighbour simply said " I told my boy that the triple play he made was fantastic and proved that he was as valuable as gold to his team".

So there you have it! even kids think gold is valueless!.
