I don't really see how GLW is hurt. I decided it was on sale today and pulled the trigger at $243. I'm also long JDSU and considered adding there too.

Maybe some are taking profits on that fear---or just taking profit after such big gains. I would say that some may have just speeded up their plans to reduce their holding of the stock.

I am of the opinion that GLW will only go up from this point as it becomes one of the few alternatives to the JDSU/SDLI combination. The news does not weaken Corning. If they stick with small acquisitions, the stock should only go up.

I am sensing we will break out to new highs by the earnings. The way it held 240 was very encouraging. The old Corning of a couple of months ago would have kept going down but not this one.

I also added JDSU and GLW today; think I got bargain prices.

I agree with t2. Some believe that today's selloff in GLW was d/t the perception that Corning needed SDLI more than JDSU. But frankly JDSU needed SDLI b/c they lag GLW in amplifier product. I would rather see GLW stick to smaller cos., like they have, and since they are a global operation, possibly some international acquisitions.
